Antithrombotic Therapy: The Key to Cardiovascular Therapeutics & Stroke Prevention
On behalf of the Hong Kong Public Hospital Cardiologists Association (HKPHCA), I would like to welcome you all to our 2011 Annual Scientific Meeting.
Founded in 1998, HKPHCA is an organization consisting of most of the cardiologists and trainees working in the public hospitals. Its objective is to promote education and training in cardiovascular medicine & act as an advocate for the policies affecting public cardiovascular health care. We regularly organize academic & scientific meetings for our members & other colleagues with an aim to improve the quality & standard of cardiology services in Hong Kong.
This year, we are very honoured to have renowned speakers from across the continents. Some of them are having their first visits to Hong Kong. They come all the way from their own prestigious institutions and join together to contribute to our theme of “Antithrombotic Therapy: The Key to Cardiovascular Therapeutics and Stroke Prevention.”
To start with, I have to thank Dr. Pak Yin LEUNG for his prompt and gracious acceptance to be our officiating guest of honour. I believe our Chief Executive has a healthy heart, physically. On the other hand, I am confident that Dr. LEUNG also pertain a strong heart to work for our community, in particular to achieve a superb medical standard of the hospital services in Hong Kong which will certainly be well recognized by international authorities.
To end with, I have to thank all the overseas and local faculties, for their highly educational lectures and case presentations in exploding our knowledge in recent developments and updates on antithrombotic therapy. I could not forgive myself for not mentioning the joint efforts of HKPHCA council, our scientific committee under the leadership of Dr. Kin Lam TSUI and the generous support from our co-organizers – the Hong Kong Society of Congenital and Structural Heart Disease (HKCASH) and Hong Kong Society of Transcatheter Endo-cardiovascular Therapeutics (HKSTENT), in making our annual event such a successful one.
Last but not the least, I have to thank all colleagues coming to this great learning occasion, particularly for your active participation and contribution, which builds our strength in our continued effort in organizing the best educational and enlightening scientific meetings in the future.
